The first thing that stood out to me about Michael Putegnat novel, Laguna, was the author's excellent writing skills. He has the ability to create a vision in the mind of the reader and employs a clever use of humor. Attractive hook at the end of most chapters kept me can not resist at least read the first paragraph or two the next.
Laguna opens Octavio Paredes, missing fisherman, and his wife Anajita. This interesting inter-racial marriage gives insight into the underlying racism in their families. From there we are introduced Jason, a sergeant at the police station, and his brother Jack, who was depressed and out-of-work. hand of fate drag these two brothers in the case of the missing fishermen. Interesting topics lead back to Jack's old job and his only refuge is his sailboat. However, an unexpected romance with Angela brings a ray of relief to Jack's battered life.
Angela Sweet, green-eyed daughter, Sophia Poole, is more than meets the eye. She gets that from his mother. Sophia, is no ordinary old lady, has an emotional mystery.

Enter fester Stubb, a former IRS tax fraud specialist is employed by John mange. John does not yet know, but he has just made his biggest mistake.
As you can probably tell, according to census figures, the back cover the statement accurately describes the settings for Laguna as a place where "power and greed are the new religion, and love is an accident ".
This book invites political fraud and the rich men's schemes, cherished love and dedication that control the lives of women - and my favorite of all themes - love and desire for environmental protection. I love good verses evil scenario is to start from scratch. Here we have a lust for revenge against the backdrop of romance and you need to do what is right. I was stunned to discover that it is this author's very first book. It is of excellent quality with the writing skills I have seldom seen.
characters are made to look so real. No one in particular is a "hero", but they all play a heroic part in some way - all without the knowledge of what any other work. It was a great example of what each of us can do by playing an active role.
In his real life, author Michael Putegnat is familiar with the political arenas and enjoys sailing. He also comes from a long line of Texans, and his family lived in the country for 5 generations or so. Therefore, his books come alive for the reader with seemingly little effort on his part.
